Scimitar GTE (SE6, SE6a & SE6b) After the unexpected success of the SE5/a series, Reliant wanted to go upmarket. The SE6 (1975 - 1976) was born. Bigger, roomier, but not as sporting as the original. A great long distance tourer. The SE6 had a short live, after one year it turned into the SE6a (1976 - 1979). After 1979 Ford stopped making the Essex. Reliant had to adopt the German 2.8 ltr Cologne: The SE6b (1979 - 1986). In 1986 Reliant stopped building the GTE. |

Scimitar GTC (SE8b) Where other marques turned away from convertibles, Reliant created one. Based on the SE6b the GTC (1980 - 1986) was born. Alas hard to sell when new, so now a rare, wanted model. |

Middlebridge GTE After Reliant stopped building the GTE Middlebrigde took over the building rights. With a major make over, they built the best Scimitar of them all.Alas, Middlebrigde had a short live, it went bust in 1990, after bad speculations with vintage cars. |

Scimitar SS1 (SS1 & 1800ti)
The SS1 should have been Reliant solution to the disapearance of the
MG Midget and Triumph Spitfire. The unusual looks and poor quality stood
in the way to success. Great road behaviour. And a 1800 ti (first British
car with a Japanese engine) is very fast indeed. All but the 1800 are
Ford engines and gearboxes. |

SST A revised SS1 with a short live. Only built in 1990. Shares engines with the SS1 series. |
